Privacy policy
Off Air is a local music player published by Tony James, trading as Tony Codes (“we”, “us”). This policy describes what Off Air does with information. It is the public privacy policy URL for the Google Play listing.
The short version
Off Air plays audio files already on your phone. It does not create an account. It does not stream a catalog. Music metadata and playback settings stay on the device. The only network use in the shipping app is Google Play Billing, if you buy or restore the optional one-time unlock.

Information on the device
Off Air reads and stores the following locally so the play button works:
- Audio library metadata from Android MediaStore — title, artist, album, folder, duration, year, and artwork URI. We do not copy your music files off the phone.
- Playback state — shuffle, repeat, queue order, and (if you unlock) an exact resume snapshot of local file URIs and position.
- Unlock flag — whether
offair_lifetimeis owned, plus a count of completed songs used only to time an in-app pay prompt.
That data lives in Android DataStore / app storage on the phone. If you use Android backup or device transfer, those preferences may be included in a backup you control. Uninstalling the app removes Off Air’s local store.
Permissions
- Audio / storage (older Android) — so Off Air can see music already indexed on the device.
- Notifications — so lock-screen skip and pause work. Optional; playback still works in the app.
- Foreground media-playback service and wake lock — so the song can continue after you leave the app or lock the phone. This service is not used to listen to calls or track you.
- Internet — Play Billing only. Off Air does not download music and does not operate a streaming backend.
Off Air does not ask for contacts, location, phone logs, call history, SMS, camera, or microphone. There is no After Call feature.
Purchases
The optional unlock is a one-time Google Play in-app product (offair_lifetime). It is never a subscription.
Google Play processes the payment. We receive purchase state and a purchase token through Play Billing so we can
grant and restore the unlock. We do not see your full card number. Google’s own privacy policy applies to Play Checkout.
What we do not collect
Off Air does not run its own analytics, advertising, crash reporter, or account server. We do not sell personal information. We do not share library contents with anyone. We do not build advertising profiles.
This website
The pages at offair.tony.codes are static. They do not set advertising cookies and do not embed a third-party analytics script. Your browser will send a normal request (IP address, user agent) to the host that serves the files. We do not use that for advertising.
Children
Off Air is a general-audience music player. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not create accounts, there is no child profile to delete on our servers.
Your choices
- Deny audio access — Off Air cannot list files until you allow it.
- Deny notifications — lock-screen controls may be limited.
- Uninstall — removes Off Air’s local preferences from the phone.
- Play purchase — manage or request a refund through Google Play. A granted lifetime unlock is never yanked by Off Air.

Law
We are based in the United Kingdom. This notice is meant to satisfy Google Play’s privacy-policy requirement and to be readable under UK GDPR where it applies. Because Off Air does not operate a user database, there is typically no server-side copy of your library to export or erase. We will still answer access or deletion requests that relate to email you send us.
